School Schedule

Kangaroos Preschool provides a variety of programs, activities, and partners to bring enriching experiences to our children.
 
 Daily, Weekly, and Quarterly enrichment activities:

JAMAROO Kids (quarterly)

We partner with JAMAROO kids to join our class regularly with the goal of each child finding their pleasure through music. Our students are introduced to different types of musical genres and have the opportunity to discover a variety of instruments.


Insect Discovery Lab (Quarterly)

Children explore the fantastic lives of beetles, millipedes, hissing cockroaches, walking sticks, whip scorpions and more! During the class, Bug Lab Presenters introduce groups to the extraordinarily diverse world of insects and other arthropods and teach you about their key role in the web of life. Scientific observation, insect identification, and the natural history of bugs’ lives are just some of the areas the class is focused on.

Extracurricular Activities

We offer many extracurricular activities throughout the day such as art, science, dance, music, Spanish, and more!

Typical Daily Routine

  • 7:30 - 8:30 Arrival and free play
  • 8:30 - 9:00  Breakfast 
  • 9:00 - 9:30 Circle and story time
  • 9:30 - 10:15 Academic activities, art, group activities
  • 10:15 - 11:15 Outside playtime
  • 11:15 - 11:45 Dance, music & movement, science (differs daily)
  • 11:45 - 12:00 Handwashing and lunch prep
  • 12:00 - 12:30 Lunch
  • 12:30 - 12:45 Story
  • 12:45 - 2:45 Quiet rest/nap time (Please note TK class has a short rest period only) 
  • 3:00 - 3:15 Snack
  • 3:15 - 4:00 Music & Movement, Spanish Circle, STEM activities
  • 4:00 - 5:30 Free Play, Outside Time, and Departure

Holidays & Closures

All schools are open year-round, except for the following Holidays;


MLK Day | Presidents’ Day | Memorial Day | Juneteenth | Summer Break (1 week / First week of July) | Labor Day | Columbus Day | Veterans Day | Thanksgiving | Winter Break (end of December following the SFUSD schedule)


Please note we have two parent-teacher conference days & teacher-in-service days during our school year: one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. It is important to connect with families and share our observations and experiences with children's caregivers and family members. We work as a team to promote healthy development and the best possible first learning experience. Our teachers also participate in continued education with yearly recertification in first aid and health and safety training. They also attend various lectures to stay up to date with the current learning environments and research.
